Matcha-White Chocolate Sugar Cookies

Lyla: What a fussy cookie, for less than stellar results.  I think Bon Appetit had some pages to fill!

Charlotte T: Looks like Slimer, tastes like...sugar. Way too much work for a sugar-bomb that falls apart when "gently tossed" in the sugar-matcha mix.

Mark R. M. Corcoran: Mixed reviews from family & friends.  Didn't like results with muffin tin method; use a mechanical scoop and parchment covered baking sheet.

Joanne: Three words to describe these cookies: bland, gray-green, unremarkable. I won't be throwing out my gingersnap recipe to make room for Matcha-White-Chocolate Sugar Cookies in my recipe box.

Gillian: Matcha haiku:

GREEN cookies, really?

Matcha and white chocolate

Do it, delicious.

Whitney: Delicious lemon-y sugar cookies! But we couldn't taste the green tea flavor at all?? And matcha ain't cheap, y'all!

Melissa Torres: If The Grinch was looking for a just-like-me cookie contest, he'd win it with this one.  This cookie delivers with stand-out color; unfortunately, the only stand-out flavor is grassy earth.

Christine Stotler: Ugliest cookie ever (think Grinch green) but everyone in the office LOVED them.  Heads up, matcha is expensive.

NYHilary:  Perfect for friends who make all green food for St. Pats Day

Mary Beth: Volunteers agreed that the best description of the taste was "earthy", not bad, but not memorable.  The Matcha was expensive, white chocolate indiscernible, cooking time off (needed at least 2 more minutes), made more than 24 (48!), and cooking half of them in small muffin cups (as suggested) created mini-muffins, not cookies - not a keeper for me.

Allison G: Less green (and less gross) than expected. Tried the mini muffin pan trick for perfectly round edges, ended up with round but thick muffin-esque cookies.

Amanda Hatter: Something a little different for the office cookie exchange. Great with tea and whiskey.

Betsy S.: Unappealing and unappetizing color and an interesting combination of flavors between the tea, lemon, and chocolate. These cookies won't be making it into my cookie baking rotation again as no one enjoyed them.

Katy:  These not so tasty, green cookies made it feel like the Grinch stole my Christmas. Given the cost and hassle of tracking down matcha tea powder, I'd rather stick to more classic cookie flavors.
