To round out this week, we thought we'd share a collection of photos we've snapped so far this spring. It's a bit of a rainy day here in DC, but a beautiful weekend is on the way. We hope it is wherever you are, too.
Have an awesome weekend. Cook something delicious. And enjoy the photos!
~ Zach & Clay
Though this looks like a Washington, D.C. cherry blossom photo, it was actually snapped outside of 1892 East Restaurant in Huntsville, Alabama. We flew down there to meet Zach's family a few weeks ago, and spring had already arrived. We loved 1892 (our first visit) and have been thinking about their take on Shrimp and Grits -- a butterflied shrimp, stuffed with grits, then deep friend and served with a tomato dipping sauce. Needless to say: delicious.
While we were visiting Zach's family (they live in Tennesee, but it's usually cheaper for us to fly into Huntsville), we went to a cookout hosted by one of Zach's mom's colleagues. He lives on a farm outside Lynchburg (home of Jack Daniel's). This shot of Clay from that cookout is about as Tennessee as it gets -- barn, beer and a chicken.
Here we are on Easter Sunday, dressed to go meet a group of friends for brunch at Poste here in DC. It was a chilly and dreary Easter here, but fun nonetheless.
Clay had to run up to New York for a work trip not too long ago. While there, he went with colleagues to Co., the popular pizza joint on 9th Ave. They got to sample just about everything on the menu before running to catch the train back home.
We've been in search for a new piece of furniture for our dining room, and that search led us a few weeks ago to Baltimore, where we had lunch with our friend Jim at Golden West Cafe. Clay ordered the special, which was this smoky pork on top of two griddle cakes, served with a corn and avocado salsa. He's still full from eating the whole thing.
Here's something from our own refrigerator, a salad we threw together with the contents of our crisper: celery, parsley, and mandarin and blood oranges in a simple vinaigrette to accompany our first grilled meal of the year. We were fans.
And now back to spring in D.C. This shot is from the Tidal Basin down by the National Mall.
More cherry blossoms...
This past Sunday, the Dupont Circle farmers market was chock full of peach blossoms for sale. We bought a bunch of them and they've brightened up our apartment for the past week.
And lastly, here's us, early in the morning, checking out the cherry blossoms before work one day last week.
Happy spring -- let's all enjoy it!
