We've been obsessing about peaches, tomatoes and popsicles ever since we launched Friday's gallery of July magazine covers. But we promise we won't make a Peach-Tomato Pop. (Or, wait, should we?)
Judging by the great comments you left on the covers gallery, many of you also seem to have peaches, tomatoes and popsicles on your mind.
As promised, we chose five of the comments at random, and the commentors win a one-year subscription to Everyday Food, plus a copy of the magazine's special full-size issue for summer.
So who won? The five randomly selected comments are:
Grace:
"I'm excited to try making Bittman's chicken under a brick recipe sometime this summer!"
Erin:
"Lots and lots of roasted corn...and maybe throw some salmon on the BBQ with it."
Mimi:
"The Everyday Food cover looks so refreshing and summery."
Diliana:
"OMG - this tomato tart on The Food Network Magazine cover looks amazing! I just love savory, it always trumps sweet for me."
Christina:
"I love the Martha Stewart Living! So simple, just the cookies, but I just love how they decorated them!"
Congrats! While we're talking about July magazines, we'll share our favorite features from this month.
In a terrific spread on throwing an "Instant Party," Everyday Food features five takes on sangria that we just love. Our two favorites: Melon-Mint and Strawberry-Rhubarb. It's enough to make us want to throw a party right now.
We're enamored with Food & Wine's feature about making your own tofu. It's something we've never really considered making ourselves. Honestly, we probably won't get around to it this summer, but if you do, we demand you tell us about the experience!
Bon Appétit ventures into unusual territory with a feature on "Turkish Delights," featuring dishes like Grilled Chicken with Za'atar and Lamb and Shrimp Kebabs. It all looks amazing.
And finally there are three things we're obsessed with in the Martha Stewart Living. First, Martha packs a picnic for what must be the classiest horseback riding trip ever. Example: fresh peaches wrapped in tissue paper and packed in lightweight wooden canisters to keep them from getting bruised (!). Another feature, "Cherries Jubilee," checks in on a cherry farm in Michigan, and the photos and recipes are absolutely mouthwatering, especially the Sour Cherry and Rosemary Focaccia. And lastly, we recommend checking out "New American All-Stars," with unusual takes on six summer staples. It's spectacular.
What about you? Any magazine features that have tickled your fancy this month?
