Lisa Colicchio: This cookie looks festive, tastes just like red velvet cake but cloyingly sweet, two words: SUGAR COMA. If this cookie were a celebrity – she’d be Taylor Swift.
Colleen K: These are easy to make and look so pretty and festive on the plate. Unfortunately they are a bland and dry cookie that would not be a great addition to your holiday cookie platter.
Dana CJ: These cookies are bland and artificial tasting. Not at all worth the effort
Creekside Cooks: Bland, bland, bland, but pretty, the Kristin Stewart of cookies. I hate to waste food so I will make whoopie pies out of them with some fluff and hope people eat them at a holiday party after a few drinks.
Lisa D.: These were simple to make and quite festive looking. The flavors are subtle and the texture is more like cake than cookie, but they left me a little underwhelmed.
Kristine: These cookies, as easy and pretty as they are, leaves me with a new understanding about red velvet: it's the frosting that makes it taste so great. Without it, all I can taste is the powdered sugar and a slightly chemical red-dye undertone in a bland dough - not something I would make again.
Tammy W.: This makes a really strange dough. They look very festive but taste just "OK"
Lauren Michele: These cookies were super easy to make, but they didn't wow me- the flavor wasn't that interesting and they weren't as sweet as I had hoped. Although, they would make a beautiful addition to the holiday table with their vivid red color.
MelanieE: Lots of dirty bowls and utensils to make a yummy cake-cookie.
Carol Selner: Surprisingly ordinary. Easy to make, but not even worth it for the lack of taste.
Lisa W: Festive looking, but not much flavor. In an ideal world, I would like to be in Amsterdam riding a bike wearing shorts eating any cookie, even this one.
Carrie V: Festive looking cookies that lacked flavor and came with a wonky recipe. That being said, kids would probably have a blast making them as they involve a TON of sugar, food coloring and are a complete (fun) mess to make.
Rose Bush: Will not impress. Try sifting cocoa into flour before whisking and adding 2-3 tsp red velvet cake flavor with 1 tsp cider vinegar to the vegetable oil.
Rachel Alan: These cookies were easy to make. Sadly they were all looks and no personality.
