This year, we’re doing Cover to Cover again, but this time we’re changing it up.
We loved reading the September issue of Bon Appétit. It’s their restaurant issue, and it includes a ton of dishes we were eager to try ourselves. Some of them are straightforward fare. Others are completely bonkers.
So this year, The Cover to Cover Challenge will focus on cooking every one of the 47 dishes in that issue. (Last year's "one recipe = one person" rule meant we had to leave people out. This way, everyone who wants to participate can join in!)
You need to join the challenge! Here’s how it will work.
Step 1: Sign up using this simple form. You have until midnight on Tuesday, August 27 to sign up. Everyone must sign up using that form -- even if you've already commented or emailed us saying you want to participate, you must sign-up by using the form.
Step 2: We’ll assign you a dish (it’s recipe roulette!), and you’ll have a little more than a week to complete that dish. This year, more than one person will be cooking each dish, so we’ll see how recipes compare for different readers. All assignments will be made by Thursday, August 29.
Step 3: After you cook your dish, tell us how it went. If possible, send a photo! You'll have until Friday, September 6 to submit your write-up.
Step 4: We’ll publish the results over a series of days, featuring your own words and images.
I already commented or emailed that I want to participate in this year's challenge. Am I good to go?
No. Everyone must sign up using the form. (Sorry to be such sticklers here, but this is the best way to ensure that no one gets left out.)
I have a dietary restriction. Will you take that into consideration?
Yes. Let us know on the form if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, and we'll do our best to accomodate everyone.
I don't like the dish I've been assigned. Can I swap for another?
If you don't want to cook the dish you're paired with, that's fine. Just let us know. But unfortunately we can't re-assign you a different dish.
I can't find all the right ingredients for my recipe. What should I do?
Do your best to source the ingredients (we always think the challenge of finding ingredients is part of the fun of cooking!). But if you're having trouble finding an obscure item, don't worry about it! Make whatever substitutions you need, and let us know about your experience in your write-up!
How are you guys feeling right now?
Great, thanks for asking!
Can I also post about my dish on my own blog?
Of course! We would love that! Share it on your blog, Facebook, Twitter, Google +, or town crier. All we ask is this: If you post on Facebook or Twitter, use the hashtag #covertocover13 so we can all follow along!
What should my write-up include?
Whatever you want! We want to hear what you think about the dish -- the ingredients, the prep, the final result. Your write-up can be as brief as a few sentences or as long as you'd like. But please do remember to snap a photo -- we all want to see how the dish turned out!
We hope you’ll join us for this year’s Cover to Cover challenge. It’s going to be a blast!
